Boat hire
The departure harbour is the beautifully situated harbour of Murten, directly below the picturesque old town. You will feel at ease from the very first second as you set out onto the lake in this almost Mediterranean setting of the „Riviera Fribourgeoise“! Lake Murten is one of the three wind-safe Jura lakes and lies exactly in the axis of Bise and westerly wind.
Stand Up Paddling
Stand-up paddling has probably been practised for thousands of years. In particular, single-man bamboo rafts are still in use in Asia today, where, alongside poles, paddles are also used while standing to generate propulsion. In the 20th century, stand-up paddling was initially only practised as a means of transport for surf photographers and surf instructors in Hawaii in order to get from the shore to the wave-breaking reefs and back more quickly by using a single-bladed paddle. It was also regarded as an alternative activity to windsurfing or surfing, as it can be done when there is no wind or waves.
So enjoy unique hours on the beautiful Murtensee. We provide our hotel guests with stand up paddlings or find out about hire and courses at Bise Noire.
Windsurfing, kiting, wakeboarding
Imagine standing on the shores of Lake Murten, while a strong bise sweeps across the water and turns the waves into a lively, splashing spectacle. Brave surfers and kite surfers glide over the waves with breathtaking ease, the wind practically carrying them along as they smoothly conquer the elements. The air is fresh, salty and full of energy – a true paradise for anyone seeking a thrill.
If you want to take on the adventure yourself, be aware that such strong wind is not for beginners. It requires experience, skill and, above all, respect for the forces of nature. If you are not sure whether you can handle the conditions, then treat yourself to a relaxing moment on a sunny, calm day instead. The picturesque tranquillity of the lake on such days is equally delightful: a peaceful walk along the shore, the view of the sparkling water and the surrounding nature – simply perfect for letting your mind wander.

River trip Biel/Bienne – Solothurn
The just under three-hour river cruise is a special experience. The journey between the Baroque town of Solothurn and the bilingual city of Biel/Bienne is considered the most beautiful in Switzerland.
It runs alongside nature reserves and offers views of the Jura range. The storks of Altreu and the historic little town of Büren an der Aare with its wooden bridge are two highlights along the route. The passage through the lock in Port is the crowning finale.
