Head of Service

Moncef Ben Dhaou, Chef de Service at Restaurant «See la vie» and Banquets

Moncef has been part of the team at Hotel Bad Murtensee for four years and has now spent one year as Chef de Service, overseeing the smooth running of the restaurant and banquet operations. He always keeps a cool head and his sense of humour, which is greatly appreciated by both guests and colleagues alike.

We asked Moncef a few questions:

What do you enjoy most about your profession and your workplace?
«The variety and the contact with people have always been what I enjoy most about my work. I am an open and sociable person who is very flexible in my job. This helps me, among other things, to build strong relationships with our guests. Some of these guests have become regular customers over time, which naturally makes me very happy.»

What do you particularly like about Murten and the region?
«The lake and all the activities in and on the water. For me, Murten and the surrounding region are both an attractive place to work and to spend my free time. I enjoy cycling and exploring the area around Lake Murten.»

You originally come from Tunisia. Why did you move to Switzerland and this region?
«I had to leave my homeland, Tunisia, for family reasons. At the beginning of my time in Switzerland, I lived and worked in the city of Bern for 16 years. It had always been my wish to work in different places across Switzerland. I like Hotel Bad Murtensee very much, especially our working atmosphere. I also find our guests very easy-going. The only challenge for me and my family – my wife and our two children – are sometimes the split shifts and working hours.»

Do you also enjoy going to restaurants yourself, or do you prefer cooking at home?
«I occasionally go out to restaurants. I usually look for places serving fish and seafood, preferably somewhere by Lake Murten. The region reminds me of the sea, Tunisia and my homeland, and gives me back a little of what I left behind 25 years ago.»

Thank you, Moncef, for these insights.
